What tips your scale?

Sorry I haven't posted in the last week. I have been faithful to my diet, though. I was a bit depressed last Monday when I weighed in -- I GAINED 1/2 lb. Sigh. I think that the alcohol over the weekend -- although it was NOT excessive, and certainly I had points to share -- killed me. This weekend, I was virtuous -- even through a Superbowl party at my house -- and I lost the 1/2# plus more! I am now down 12 lbs total. Thirty Days, twelve pounds. Not too bad!

I was thinking about what "tips my scale." What I mean by that is: What is the thing that got me off my big behind and got me moving to lose weight? I know what did it...

A few weeks ago, I posted a layout here titled "just me". If you scroll down you can see it. I had quite a few comments --on and off the blog -- that I didn't look "that bad." Let me tell you, that was NOT the zenith of my weight! That picture was taken in July and I put weight on since then.

What tipped the scale for me is the picture below. This is a picture taken in October with my brother when he and his wife visited from Chicago. My SIL sent it to me after Christmas via email. Now, I know I have ALOT of layers on -- but still, not THAT many. The biggest layer is my own skin!! If the lens sees me this way, other people do, too.

Before you look, understand that posting this picture is HARD. It is facing up to the mirror. The inner picture I have of myself does NOT look like this. My tipping point was when I faced up to the fact that I DO look like this -- or at least I did 12 pounds ago! : )

Okay, look now. Then YOU tell ME what YOUR tipping point was. I know many of you are following this journey and joining in...

OUCH.

I'd show you my picture...it too was at the beach. My road has been long and slow and lately I'm on an upward trend. So I understand how hard it is to post something so personal.

I lost 85 lbs and then like an IDIOT gained 30 back. Trying desperately to lose that 30 but is' so much more stubborn the second time around.

Congrats, take it 1 lb at a time and you'll get to goal!

I check out your blog for the techniques for stamping. It was amazing to see that you started a weight management blog. You have truly inspired me. I dont have a scale. My size 16 clothes are to tight so I knew it was time to do something. I was afraid I would be reaching 200 pounds. I to have recently joined ww a few weeks ago. I am struggling following the program since my eating habits have been so bad for so long. But I will get there. I to have started a blog to help me during this journey.
Thanks for inspiration.

Pat, you are doing awesome! I joined WW a year ago and have only taken off 20 pounds since then. I have recently refocused on my weight loss goals and know that for me it is as simple as, and as hard as, moving more and not eating for reasons other than hunger. Thanks for sharing your journey. Your topics have been spot on - there is always something that "tips our scale" and removes the scales from our eyes so we can see that our inner picture does not match our outsides. I'm so glad you're here to inspire us not only with your artwork but with your commitment to improving your health and realigning your inner picture with the outer one! Hugs to you!

Congrats Pat! My tipping point is this...my family and I just got back from Walt Disney World on Spring Break. I had an absolutely miserable time. How do you have a miserable time at "the happiest place on Earth?" do you ask? Well, the walking was my big downfall. It hurt my legs to walk, but mostly to stand in line. I ended up renting one of those little scooters just so I could keep up with my family. Not only am I going to make a DR appt to make sure everything is okay with me, but the serious dieting (life style changes) is about to begin. Your blog is giving me inspiration. Keep up your good work!
